Passenger traffic has significantly increased as a result of Air India being the first Indian airline to provide in-flight Wi-Fi on domestic routes. On certain Air India aircraft, such as the Airbus A350, Boeing 787-9, and some Airbus A321neo models, passengers will have free internet access at the beginning of their initial check-in starting on January 1, 2025.
This unique service links business and leisure travelers. During the trip, passengers can handle chores, access social media, explore the internet, and communicate with friends and family.
Rajesh Dogra, Director, Customer Experience, Air India, talks about the importance of connectivity in today’s travel, and says that it quickly addresses needs like messaging for increased productivity. He expressed confidence that passengers will appreciate the innovation in flight.
The Wi-Fi service is compatible with a wide range of Wi-Fi-enabled devices, such as PCs, tablets, and smartphones running iOS or Android. After the aircraft reaches a maximum altitude of 10,000 feet, passengers can connect.Multiple devices may be connected to by passengers at once, guaranteeing continuous communication during the trip.
After the competitive run on the international route, the local route is launched. On long-haul flights including those to New York, London, Paris, and Singapore, Air India already has Wi-Fi on its Airbus A350, certain Airbus A321neo, and Boeing B787-9 planes. The airline stated that it intends to enhance passenger connectivity throughout its network and extend the service to more aircraft in its fleet.
In order to use Wi-Fi in flight, travelers only need to turn on Wi-Fi on their devices, choose the “Air India Wi-Fi” network, and input their PNR number and last name as they submitted on the airline’s website. Setting new benchmarks for customer comfort and convenience in the Indian aviation sector, Air India was the first airline to offer in-flight Wi-Fi on domestic flights.
