Although there isn’t a vaccination for HMPV, there are steps you may take to stop the virus from spreading:
- Use soap and water to wash your hands frequently.
- Refrain from physical contact with sick persons.
- If you’re sick, stay at home.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
- Put used tissues in the garbage.
- Surfaces that are often touched, including worktops and doorknobs, should be cleaned and disinfected.
Consult your physician if you suspect HMPV. Although HMPV has no known cure, your doctor can help you manage your symptoms.
